Who is Trevor Kafka?
Trevor Kafka is a Boston based circus artist and 2011 graduate of the Professional Track program at the Brattleboro, VT New England Center for Circus Arts, where he developed his dynamic-height single point trapeze act and floor acrobatics act. He has trained with former Cirque du Soleil performers Elsie Smith, Serenity Smith Forchion, and Bill Forchion, and former Cirque Éloize performer Aimée Hancock, among others.
Trevor has been training circus arts since he was 13 years old, first inspired by the artists of Cirque du Soleil. He began circus arts training in the summer of 2006 at Circus Smirkus Summer Camp in Craftsbury Commons, VT, and found a natural affinity towards aerial acrobatics, handbalancing, and flexibility training. After his second summer at camp, he began to train at various locations in New York City, including New York Circus Arts and the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (with Ivo Georgiev of Cirque du Soleil), as well as the New England Center for Circus Arts. Trevor is currently available for aerial instruction at Esh Aerial Arts in Cambridge, MA where he teaches weekly classes in Static Trapeze and Aerial Fabric, as well as through private and group instruction from beginner to advanced levels. Trevor has varied aerial teaching experience at numerous locations: In addition to being a fully insured aerial instructor, he has taught at World Cup Gymnastics, the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (S.L.A.M.), Concord Academy Summer camp, the American Youth Circus Organization NYC-Regional festival. Trevor has also completed both the Aerial Fabric Teacher Training and Static Trapeze Teacher Training programs at the new England Center for Circus Arts. He additionally took part in the flying trapeze staff training program at the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics July-December 2011. Trevor holds an insurance policy that covers instruction of aerial acrobatics through the International Special Events and Recreation Association (ISERA). Trevor is also available for performance of his floor acrobatics, single point trapeze, and aerial fabric acts which have been presented at numerous venues, including Bard College, the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, the SkyBox, and the Coney Island Sideshows by the Seashore. This past New Years Eve, Trevor has also been given the great honor of partaking in a group performance of synchronized aerial light choreography at the Phish New Years Run 2011-2012 at Madison Square Garden in front of an audience of 22,000 and at heights of up to 60 feet.
